Jesse Valenzuela and I finally put these songs on tape (or its virtual equivalent). A tremendous amount of rewarding fun. We wanted to be the next Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham and, in the process, discovered there will only ever be one Dan and Spooner. Let’s face it…Jess and I bonded in 1987 over a friend’s comprehensive Nick Lowe record collection. We went to our happy place and made this album.
