Colin James – Traveler

Colin and I went to LA to live in a giant mansion on the top of a hill in Silver Lake. It was called “the Paramour” ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paramour_Mansion). Mark Howard was producing and that’s where he was set up. It was a beautiful huge old home used in a lot of movies. It felt haunted. Fiona Apple and Jon Brion were in one wing making the “Extraordinary Machine” album. The guys from Juno Reactor were in the other wing making the Matrix 2 soundtrack. There was a lot of inspiring co-mingling. It was a hive of music. Really fun. The band had the two of us in it plus Darryl Johnston bass (Neville Bros, Daniel Lanois, Emmylou Harris), Vic Indrizzo (Sheryl Crow, Macy Gray, Beck), and Dean Butterworth (Ben Harper, Good Charlotte). We had Ivan Neville, Vince Jones, Eric Webster and Jeff Trott play some keys too. It was like summer camp.
